ABOUT US

He is a teacher and I was studying to be (I’m sure many posts about that will come later). He teaches Social Studies (his strengths being US History and Government) and if I am having trouble falling asleep he will lecture to me about the structure of the U.S. Government. (It works like a charm.) Outside of being a Teaching Nerd he is a good old fashioned “Star Wars” nerd (Collectible Card Game anyone?) and comic nerd through and through. He can be found on many message board for comics and for his beloved baseball team, The Orioles.

Personally, I am a book nerd. I learned this from both my parents who read anything and everything to me. I was torn between Secondary English Education, Speech Pathology, or Librarianship for quite awhile. I assume you can see the underlying commonality between them all. That’s right, I am a word nerd. My Fantasy Sports Team is the Mighty Morphemes. In the end I am making my way towards SLP after caring for my father who suffered a stroke which left him with apraxia and aphasia. (I write more about my Dad in my other blog). But I still partake of other classic nerd forms. I am an obsessive J.R.R. Tolkien fan, collecting various editions of his work into my library. One day I will post photos of it, even though it pales in comparison to the beauty and bounty that can be found on my one of my dailies, Tolkien Library. I also get into Sci-Fi (and rue the day the cable channel screwed us all over). I watched “Doctor Who” growing up and before we all realized that David Tennant cannot be human (he is too impossibly handsome). I like my Doctors awkward looking (within reason, which is why we all adore Tom Baker and Colin Baker is only spoken of in hushed tones). I didn’t play a lot of video games as a kid even though my Dad programmed for Atari. I know, badass, right?! But I am a 2nd Generation D&D player which just goes to show that those 70s nerds could reproduce without bio-engineering!

We just got hitched on March 3, 2012. Woo! I'll throw some wedding photos up, eventually. So far it's been great! It's been just what I expected and more, it's pretty damn rad. And now, our pets are legitimate and no longer have to skulk around the neighborhood worrying about what their friends think of their sinner parents. Okay, maybe that's a bit far. But, see more photos of the pets at my Flickr account
